Spring has sprung

Today was beautiful. Fucking GORGEOUS, I say. That's because some semblance of spring finally came to Kirksville: 70 wonderous degrees and hardly any clouds in the blue, blue sky. One of my favorite times on campus (next to autumn, of course), because it's when Truman really springs to life. Today, Kirksville becomes populated. People are wearing shorts, skirts, sunglasses, and flipflops. There are people in the soccer field next to our dorm playing soccer and flying frisbees. People are eating their lunches outside at the tables next to the sub, or sitting on the edge of the (still off) fountain. The Rent-A-Puppy people have a table on the quad, and so there are little fluffy puppies chasing after eachother in the grass. People are studying out of doors in every spot that's still not too soggy to sit on: against trees, on the grass, on walls, on blankets in the middle of the grassy quad. People fall asleep using their backpacks for pillows underneath trees. Life is beautiful.

Today I did get some stuff accomplished. Got up at a reasonable hour to help one of my roommates move her crap back in as she came back a day late from Spring Break. I do some reading for Russian before when I would usually head off to Roman History. I stop by Roman history to say hi to Stacey and Mary Beth, but in actuality I had no classes today. So I went to pick up the materials for the study abroad fair from the office on campus: got a lot of booklets and random crap, and have no idea exactly what I'll be doing, but I'll figure it out. Then I sat on a bench for awhile in the quad and read, before realizing I had not in fact eaten anything yet, and grabbed a sandwhich from the sub, and ate it outside at the tables. After finding out my bench was stolen on the quad, I go back to the sub and sit on the grass near the fountain under a small, bare tree. I read a lot for class, about HALF of my Russian history reading, shoes and socks off and pants rolled up. My ghost-like pale legs scream at seeing daylight. I pretty much study and soak up the sun while listening to Dvorak's New World Symphony  (becuase I can only study to classical). It's so pretty outside I could seriously never leave.

I give myself fiftenn extra minutes to lie down in the grass and listen to some music by MIKA before I pack up (by the way, if anyone is even remotely interested in Mika, I am so desperate to share my love for him that all you need to do is let me know and I will send some of his songs to you on AIM. Or teach me how to use Sendit or something and I will send it that way). Then I forced myself to go to kickboxing, which was torture. I almost would have rather just taken a walk outside in the gorgeous weatehr, but after two weeks of no exercise, I needed to cowboy the fuck up and rambo on. It was really hard, but we did jump ropes today, which at least breaks up the monotony and is kinda fun. Especially nmow that I have a proper sports bra! YAY! no more pain! Dinner was fine, followed by a nap! And here I am!

Tomorrow is supposed to be even WARMER than today was, but since I'll be stuck in classes and the study abroad fair, I won't have time to sit out and enjoy it. At least I'll try to make up for it by studying outside Wednesday, which is also supposed to be wonderfully warm and sunny.
